Wildcrafted usnea by my dear sister on a little island in the Pacific Northwest. We have usnea here in central texas, but not very much, and it is only good to harvest in the wet months. Also, it grows slowly so I am mindful not to over harvest. But on Shaw Island, there is so much usnea, it blows down from the big trees and lands in my sister’s yard!
Usnea is a lichen, and it has been used as a natural anti-biotic far back into history. It is helpful with strep and staph, and it is really great for respiratory issues such as cough. Take at the beginning of a sickness to stimulate immune system and thereafter to reduce the severity and duration of symptoms. Also great applied externally to a wound if you are concerned it may become infected.
